illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What is the current state of Matrix?English21·4 days agoMatrix works good. Two years ago Element should’ve been what element Next is today. But it is getting there. It still has great backers and lots of users. As long as there is no direct alternative, it’ll get there.
I don’t want american companies owning all my data and neither do companies want that.
It’s not the shiny new kid anymore but there is no other new shiny kid. Hence, it is still the brightest and newest kid.
I hope nix and home manager become as easy to use and get the same reputation to non techies as brew is and has
Start using it in a distrobox and once you switch nothing much will change except the underlying base os that you don’t touch anyway.
I use it within a distrobox. I love it

That is a rabbit hole. There are as many tools as sand on the beach.
One of the tools you are looking for is probably starship.
But you can make it as easy as customiying PS1 with e.g. https://bash-prompt-generator.org/

illusionist@lemmy.zipto Linux@lemmy.ml•Need some opinions on my next Laptop and Linux Distro2·14 days agoThat sounds bad. Are there any examples?
I mean it would be easier to just say that fedora is american and suse is european. And thus, suse should be preferred.
Fedora is a great distro, what decision did IBM take/influence that makes it worse?
Opensuse is awesome but fedoras atomic ostree distros are amazing. Opensuse does not have such an amazing distribution channel afaik. There is no bazzite built with suse. And no other ublue project.

I haven’t tested radicle too much but you should be able to use your “own account” to open PRs on other instances.
Then post that into a linux community. Please don’t post non linux related stuff.
Post it into a windows community, not linux.
Why do you want to set it up if your experience is bad results?
