peregrin5@piefed.socialto Data is Beautiful@mander.xyz•Favorable views of the US have declined globallyEnglish3·2 days agoFair enough. yeah my south African one was a guess that there might be a large population of conservative holdouts but I’m afraid I don’t know much about the country in recent years.
peregrin5@piefed.socialto Data is Beautiful@mander.xyz•Favorable views of the US have declined globallyEnglish9·2 days agothere are a different type of conservatism. Nigeria has Christian fundamentalist conservatism so they love Trump’s anti-gay and anti-abortion government. India is hyper pro-capitalist so they love billionaires owning everything. South America is pro-apartheid and they mostly love Elon Musk.
Japan is conservative in a social sense that doesn’t include religion. they don’t mesh with trump’s America. Poland should love Trump, so not sure what’s happening there other than they’re concerned about his pro-Russia stance. that said the polish government doesn’t seem popular with its people so maybe it is a case of them having a conservative government but not a conservative population.

they have to prepare for when they eventually leave the trailer park and become the ruling class

peregrin5@piefed.socialto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Decline in tourist numbers to Japan blamed on manga's disaster predictionEnglish42·5 days agoI don’t know about that. there has been a huge slew of foreigners coming in and buying up all their affordable land and housing to make AirBnBs. if that were happening in my area I’d hate foreigners too. especially because most are likely not making any effort to fit in with the community and are just creating wealthy expat enclaves taking advantage of the low yen value.
also if comparing xenophobia have you seen -gestures to the rest of the entire world-
Block what you don’t want to see. I block all the straight porn on here that somehow makes it into All. And yes Lemmy has a large amount of lgbt users.
Also it is pride season so you’ll see more queer stuff than normal.

My guess is a lot of those who are detained who are married to Trump supporters also support the detention of immigrants and just never thought it would happen to them.

To the point where no other service is really useful when it comes to asking live questions and getting live answers for many different topics.
peregrin5@piefed.socialOPto Reddit@lemmy.world•Best way to get around permaban on Reddin in 2025?English22·7 days agoYeah I’ve been trying to. I haven’t been on it for nearly half a year at this point. I’m fine with using Lemmy but there are some things Lemmy isn’t great at like having thriving communities I can direct questions about personal finance to and getting a wide variety of opinions. Or even pottery discussion. Lemmy is almost only about politics, Linux, and Star Trek memes. Not much more than that.
I actually think Lemmy has started to die off more since I’ve been here. I’m guessing I was part of some large migration when I started but now most of those people have stopped coming on several months later.
