Have you used windows before? It’s flaming garbage. Been using various oses for decades and I still rediscover how shitty windows is on the regular.

Yeah, and Linux still doesn’t have a good answer to AD for managing suites of end user machines. Linux has a lot going for it - but windows isn’t strictly inferior or anything.

Honestly, the entire AD suite with auth and everything else built in is genuinely a good product. And if what you want is supported by Microsoft, their other services are decent as well.

That’s just not true at all. Multi-user management has been part of Unix since your parents were children.

Notice how you’re ignoring the machine management and selectively choosing to focus on the user management. User management might be fine with Linux, but machine management can’t compete with GPOs, especially for managing Windows clients, which is what businesses are using for workstations whether we like it or not.

I left out machine management because it wasn’t being talked about but I’m pretty sure puppet and ansible fuck way more than winblows. And I don’t give a fuck about windows desktop management. Windows top to bottom is abhorrent and I don’t give a shit about the awful tools you need to use to administer it.

Seriously - you think windows is easier to administer remotely than linux? Fuck. Outta. Here.

freeipa is pretty good, although i agree that it’s easier to just use AD

LDAP has been standard for decades. What the fuck are you talking about?!

It’s painfully obvious that the vast majority of you have never in any capacity worked with Linux in a proper system designed from the ground up to be opensource. Ya’ll need to find better projects to work on.

Lmao that’s not just for AD

I only know OpenLDAP and FreeIPA, if there are any other alternatives you got please mention them

These fucking morons see multiple implementations of the same open standard and think they are all independent solutions. They are so brow beaten by windows that the entire paradigm of proper linux administration is something beyond their understanding.
