Farmers Insurance said Monday it will lay off 11% of its workforce — about 2,400 employees — as part of a corporate restructuring aimed at increasing its efficiency and long-term profitability.

The California-based insurer said the job cuts will impact all lines of its business. Monday was the last working day at the company for most employees impacted by the layoffs, Farmers confirmed to The Associated Press.

Note, not sustainability… profitability. When are we going to stop letting these leeches destroy the American economy.

And? They are running their business with less people. It’s not a charity. The people laid off will get a nice severance package and have to find new work. Most who get severance end up in the positive with more money than they would had they just been fired. Unemployment is under 3%, it’s not like it is hard finding a job at the moment.

Yes. Applying for jobs is always time consuming and a pain, but I had a job within 2 weeks and made an extra 14k that year. I wouldn’t call my experience during a time of low unemployment stressful at all.

Farmers Insurance is a terrible insurance company. My HOA uses them, and they told us that if we filed another claim, they would drop us. I later found out my girlfriend’s HOA uses them too, and they were told something similar, almost word for word. Apparently, even if they deny a claim, they count it against you.
