I finally watched In Bruges - which I’ve been meaning to see for years. Great flick and lived up to the hype!
I only saw this a few months ago based on someone’s reaction. It was surprisingly a lot better than I was expecting, a great film.
You ever get angry at yourself for being so utterly wrong about something? That was me after just watching Mad Max for the first time, having completely written it off my whole life. I had a misconception that the whole thing was about resource scarcity after the apocalypse, and I didn’t think that sounded very interesting.
I watched all of the installments in the franchise. One of the most solid franchises I can think of. Even the low points (if I must call them that) are still very entertaining. The original 1979 film though is honestly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t expecting it, and I was blown away.
Always happy to find something new that shatters the jaded shell that’s built up around me over the years. 10 out of 10.
I hate to admit it, but I’ve never seen American Psycho in it’s entirety, just scenes here and there. We put it on randomly last night and we enjoyed it a lot. The obvious morbid scenes aside, it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen.
One of my favs. Christian Bale is outstanding as well as the rest of the cast. I really think they did pretty well adapting the novel
I frequently accuse my husband of being Patrick Bateman because of his music comments.
Lol I have bare white walls with no decorations and listen to classic prog rock music, so those scenes were hilarious to me.
I don’t often go to the cinema, but last week we went to see Twisters as the original film is one of my wife’s favourite. I’ve just finished this review, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks. I’m always a little reluctant to post my own stuff. I did a few times on Reddit and people can be so nasty.
Nah, go for it.
25th July: went to a midnight screening of Deadpool & Wolverine and it was everything I’d hoped it’d be an more. Any worries are dispelled in the opening scene and it carries on in that exhilarating profane way the whole way through - there"s not a sacred cow they leave unslaughtered (the Indian release must be 5 minutes long). There’s so much crammed in and most of it very spoilery but if you were worried about the various reveals and leaks, don’t be, that’s the obvious stuff anyway and there is so much more - enough Easter eggs to make you diabetic by the time you leave. Some are deep dives that only I seemed to enjoy but most are accessible to anyone who has grown up with the Marvel movies, all of them, because it’s also a film about endings as well as, hopefully, new beginnings. The mid-credit scene is a surprisingly tribute to all the Marvel movies that brought us to this point, so the end credit scene has to go hard to counter-balance that, and it does.
It’s definitely my favourite of the Deadpool films so far (they keep getting better) and it’s straight in as my favourite film of the year. And my favourite character of the so, so many… I want to say Dogpool but, of course it’s Peter.
My wife and I saw this film this afternoon. I feel that if I review it, I’ll have to review the trailers because there is so much that I don’t want to spoil. :-)
It was very tricky saying anything about it.
1st August: went to see it again and it was a blast. The jokes and references come so thick and fast that it is worth seeing again after reading some analysis as you can appreciate everything a bit more and ponder the wider themes.
We just watched Madame Web. I wasnt expecting much and was pleasantly surprised.

10th July: Went to see MaXXXine, found out I’d booked a ticket for a cinema 220 miles away and because the start times were different I couldn’t nip into the one where I was and because it was late I was limited in what I could see, so dived into Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which was moderately entertaining if you could disengage your brain and weren’t overly distracted by some of the camerawork but the melodramatic elements towards the end were really over-egged and badly-performed (although I am happy to concede that no actor could really convincingly pull off what the script was asking of them). In the end I didn’t hate it but I doubt I will spare this another thought unless I get in another discussion about Will Smith’s acting.
