  • There IS a difference between reality and fantasy. We see it all the time.

There is an actual fetish for consesual non consent aka rape fantasy/roleplay. If we allow that people routinely engage in fake rape, then why are you surprised if anything else is sexualized. People are weird.

But is it not just as disturbing to you when people glorify violence and gore such as the Saw franchise?

I do not understand the attraction to these things either, but I dont think its healthy to pretend that reality and fantasy cant be separated.

  • Im gonna guess.

Sport is a spectacle. At the highest levels of any given sport(usually)

Women, if they cannot compete with men, will simply not exist in the highest levels of that sport.

If women cannot be part of the highest levels of that sport, the sport cant make enough money to create leagues that can convince enough women to put significant amount of systems in place to train and produce the best women capable of playing that sport.

Until we stop caring about only letting/finding/supporting/producing the best of the best, its an incredibly bad idea to ignore the many sport specific disadvantage biology plays in competition

  • I do have a couple points of contention, but nothing to fight over, really more of a “fords are better than chevy” type thing

I would say celcius is more scientific on 2 levels.

One it ia what the scientific community worldwide mainly uses (and thats what i was mostly referencing)

It is more scientific as it it better defined/described and as such is more easily converted and calculated when mixing units. It has more points of reference. Water freezing/boiling at a between 0 and100 which bookends its liquid phase. Also that it meshes well with other units. (At standard pressures of coursez but all temperature units are equally effected by pressure so its kind of irrelevant)

kilogram calorie is defined as the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one liter of water by one degree Celsius (or one kelvin). The small calorie or gram calorie is defined as the amount of heat needed to cause the same increase in one milliliter of water. Thus, 1 large calorie is equal to 1000 small calories.

2 there is a unit for 10 centimetres! Decimetres! Though you are absolutely correct that no one outside a lab likely uses it! But maybe you and I cant start that trend(and have a bit of fun at the weird looks we get when we do!)

I have a bottle of 7Up I bought and brought home from either Inverness or Dublin in 2006 because its labelled in decilitres which was the first time i had ever seen that unit used in the real world

But all that being said, thanks for the fun exchange! Have a wonderful life!

  • I grew up with people who some of used C and some F

Was so much easier to think in C (and by think i mean remember…usually)

Water freezing at 0 and boiling at 100 is such a good frame of reference. And if its not working at those temps you also know right away that something else is happening.

But i get it as well once you learn a thing its hard to change your frame of reference without putting in the time needed to reset it.

    I think temp in C

Small/short sizing in feet and inches, large and very small in km/cm/mm

Weight in lbs, large and small weights in kg/g

    Life is a strange duck
