I thought Fairphone would solve this for me, but the thing is too damn chonky.
Codec support is a bit of a bummer. Otherwise I would have bought them.

I keep it up to date, like a kind of running CV, but otherwise I don’t interact with it.
I used to, because I had a buggy TP-Link modem/router, & adding a cap was the only way that port forwarding would magically start to work. I have no idea why. The bug never got fixed.

Nice. I think I do most of these. Have you looked into CalyxOS & GrapheneOS as alternative Android substitutes?

True, but I found a flashing colour more informative. I knew instantly what it meant. With an AOD I’d have to look more intently at the phone or bring it closer to my ageing eyes.
No, but I was considering switching back to having one. I had an iPhone + Linux laptop combination for a while, which makes getting your music on your phone impossible. Now I’ve switched to a phone with CalyxOS, getting my FLAC & mp3 files on my phone is doable again, so I might not go the route of getting a dedicated mp3 player.
Cryfs. I sync the directories with syncthing.
I kind of miss it. It was discrete and useful.
