Mike WazWOWski!
To me it feels more like someone has gone out of their way wayyyy further to involve bureaucracy and make it official when just saying “I would rather not” would do.
Because of the taste? While it’s not common to brew a drink with other beans, we eat them all the time, and it’s pretty obvious in doing so that they aren’t flavors that lend themselves to a beverage.
Coffee beans are actually the seed of a more traditional “fruit” (ie, sweet and acidic) rather than a legume like other beans (also technically seeds, but vegetal in flavor, with an entirely different taste and texture). You’re basically just going to get a weak broth from traditional beans.
Similarly, people have tried steeping every type of leaf, plant, and fruit out there in water, but it’s a pretty limited list that remains popularly used for tea, as it’s a pretty limited list (relative to the incredible diversity of plant life) that actually tastes good that way.
People use mushrooms, various roots (like chicory), other fruity seeds, and more to create coffee-like drinks, and/so with the number of people and cultures out there with their own tastes and traditions, it’s a relatively safe bet that if people aren’t drinking it anywhere in the world, it’s because they’ve tried it and it just doesn’t taste good.
Interesting, so North America was just the US and Canada to you?
Central America is in North America
Finally
Lol you are not a smart person. Goodbye.
Lol it’s pretty shocking. Thank you for confirming there’s at least one person on Lemmy who also goes outside.
Lol never said you were right, but if you’re as observant and thoughtful as you clearly think you are, you’ll find clues in my above comments. Enjoy your angst-riddled yet superiorly enlightened existence. I’ll just have to get by with my inferior, happy, social, fulfilling, question-filled life. Good to know someone out there knows everything though, including where I live I guess.
You have a pretty thin skin and unrealistic expectations about the real world, so I just guess you come from the Internet.
Well enjoy experiencing life that way. I deeply enjoy my own and have a feeling that people in your camp feel differently. If no one ever talked to strangers in real life, it would be a pretty sad, cultureless existence.
Well then consider me even further evidence that it’s gonna happen either way. You might get a bloody nose for telling someone to bugger off in those same countries, so take your chances or learn to live with it.
You’re not gonna control how others act, so you might as well try to control how you do.
Perhaps counterintuitively, getting out of the house more often may make experiences like this less aggravating. Choosing isolation makes interacting with non-internet strangers much more difficult the few times you do it. Being exposed often to the many non-weirdos out there who want to hear your bad jokes and stories and/or share their own makes being in public and having interactions much easier, and reduces the apparent size/significance of a relatively minor interaction like this one.
You go in public, people are going to talk to you, and they’ll do it about whatever is on their minds. That’s sorta something you gotta accept and find a way to deal with if you’re not going to become a complete hermit, which it sounds like this guy is well on his way to doing if this was his only trip out of the house in a week. That’s not healthy.
Going to a legit optometrist that either cuts their own lenses or tells you where to get good ones rather than trying to find the cheapest option online is probably the biggest thing. They tend to recommend or automatically go for the other top tips, like avoiding any coating that will ripple/peel/fade over time, using high-index materials for high prescriptions (expensive, but drastically reduced the necessary thickness and curvature + distortion of the crystal), and spacing the lens centers to your personal measurements.
Shit in, shit out. But at least I know when to blame the producers this way!
Same exact situation here (incredibly luckily), so I guess I mean “support” not in the sense that my wife isn’t excited for me when I find something worth getting, but more that I wish her excitement came from a similar place as mine, a selfish excitement to use whatever is on the way herself, rather than a much sweeter excitement about me being excited lol. And excellent meme, wil certainlyl be sending it along.
I disagree personally. I don’t think they need to be side by side to appreciate the difference, so long as you’ve ever experienced both. I miss the things that I know I’d get with better speakers when I listen on a different setup, and I still enjoy the experience, but it doesn’t move me as deeply when I feel something missing. And I don’t think it’s (all/entirely) placebo. A subwoofer that reaches 10hz lower, moves more air, and fires faster gives you a lot more to hear/feel/appreciate, and to me really changes my physical and emotional reaction to music.
Yeah that’s my biggest bummer, too, both in wanting to share the experience and wanting support in dropping some cash on a pair of headphones or something lol.
Pomegranate pips work well in most salty dishes, roasted apple is great with a strong, soft cheese.
