  • Idk, I see liberals telling everyone to be calm and content and that the economy is great and getting better.

I totally get the reason and vibe they’re going for, but they’re basically saying don’t be righteously furious and ignore reality, imo, while they capitulate on claims that crime and immigration are bigger problems. I guess, I just don’t know that significant economic/social change has ever happened without pissed-off people fighting like their lives depend on it

Most people I know know about the drake beef and the Diddy scandal, but I couldn’t even count like 5 people that I know personally that could name their senators or explain what the electoral college is.

I think most of us prefer to ignore our emotions, and I think anything related to politics beings up uncomfortable emotions for people so they just don’t do it and stay away from the topic

The OP? What’s that based on? All their posts are just critical of Israel

That said, given how lemmy works, there’s no real recourse anyway. This is a good, funny post, so I’ll upvote it. Since upvote points aren’t tracked there’s nothing we can really do to tell bad actors apart from people that actually contribute to communities/discussions. If it mattered, I’d maybe downvote but it doesn’t since every post they make ends up being treated individually by the community (unless you track usernames or something and I personally don’t pay for that feature)

You’d have to comment on all their posts if you wanted it to stick, and then if it’s not obvious like here, you’d have to provide reasoning each time. I don’t get it but most people really didn’t like points being added up for some reason

  • I mean, sure but Dems only really have a chance because Republicans continue to run the shuttiest candidates imaginable. That is absolutely true

Like, Obama won partly because McCain chose to run with Palin. It’s not the only reason he won, but it’s silly to think it wasn’t a major factor - especially considering everything we know about white American voters, that’s been made just as clear as it ever could be. I bet it was a tough decision for some/many Americans

I’ve always wished I could feel like the choice in a general election was a hard decision, but alas I’m working class and brown (and believe in science)

  • Yeah, I couldn’t believe the ridiculous narrative either. After the reading the article though, it at least makes some sense for me as a Mexican-American dude. It’s mainly white people doing better and I guess that totally tracks (also helps explains why so many people here are ready to believe it). I honestly sometimes forget to remind myself “American” hardly ever means all Americans

That said, it’s wild how little discussion there is on this here and how any mention of frustration with the accepted narrative results in others thinking you’re just a bitter idiot, or something
