With Project 2025 they also want to end no-fault divorce for everyone.
A 2004 paper by economists Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolvers found an 8 to 16% decrease in female suicides after states enacted no-fault divorce laws. They also noted a roughly 30% decrease in intimate partner violence among both women and men, and a 10% drop in women murdered by their partners.
Just looking at the stats you can see why they oppose it.

Also not sure why it popped into my head, but the thought of this man doing community service (like picking up trash on the side of the road) while a guard blasted “U.N.I.T.Y.” by Queen Latifah over and over would just be amazing.

Ummm … this guy has/is building a cult. This guy is making up new “Christian” ideas and has made himself a conduit for god. This is Trump bringing this cult into his own, and by doing so enforcing this guy’s power over his followers.

Also, did the officer believe upon entering the outside room that they were somehow growing pot plants in the MRI tube behind an invisible curtain or something? Why would you need to walk into the room? Also, buying all that medical equipment would be a pretty big investment as just a front to grow a few pot plants. How does a warrant like that even get signed off on? Increased power compared to other non-medical buildings, and someone who thought they smelled pot? I’m sure it couldn’t have been someone in the waiting room that smoked up, or was around someone smoking before before going inside, right?
Even D.A.R.E. knew it wasn’t actually effective, but they had sold it to enough lawmakers to get it written into education requirements and the steady stream of money meant they defended it until the end.
HR is designed and there to protect the company from employees, they are not really your friend any more than the corporation is your friend. They can be friendly, yes, in the same way you can work for a place that “takes care of it’s workers”, but they serve the business NOT you. I mean the name really breaks it down, Human Resources. They are there to manage the humans for the business just like any other commodity. They are also sometimes called Human Capital Management (HCM), and have a focus on training/education and extracting the most value from each employee.
We also need to stop Republicans from constantly trying (and sometimes succeeding) to strip the FTC of its powers to enforce issues/laws/regulations well within its scope as a federal agency.
It’s almost like it should be doctors determining a woman’s medical care instead of some “religious” old white men pretending to be taking some kind of moral high road by interpreting their “faith” 100% in the way that benefits them.
We need to start removing laws based on religion, and start respecting the separation of church and state. And if these officials cannot, they should be removed from office.
You may find Harris the lesser of two evils, and want a progressive candidate like I think the majority does, but Harris is certainly running a more progressive platform than any in the past few decades. Again a low bar, but it is a step in the direction I think, and what the majority wants to see. I think as government reps get younger we’ll naturally see things become more progressive/diverse. It’s just waiting out the old white guard.
Umm … Bluesky is “corporate social media”, even if they try to act nice registering as a “benefit corporation”. Still should not be considered part of the fediverse.
Yep, and the fact they continue to feed these same results back to the AI is going to eventually make them lose their shit. I saw it mentioned in an article or video (can’t remember now which) that when AI starts taking AI created output as input it gets hallucinations, almost like schizophrenia.

Then Trump wouldn’t have seen it on Fox and repeated it at the debate, and now everyday since.

Let me repeat: there is no real privacy in any social network. If people are genuinely afraid of being targeted because of what they write online, the solution is not to give them a false sense of privacy, but to educate and empower them to use messaging platforms that are provably secure.
I think everyone understands that what they type is public, but there is a difference between posting something to a community that may be small in nature and would likely only be found and read by those also interested or a part of said community, and someone creating a database of ALL this type of content that some troll can use to more easily target people and blast their hate filled replies out to.
Those that are telling marginalized folks to use instance XYZ because “they don’t federate with threads and therefore are safe” think that they are being helpful, but in reality are putting them at even more risk because they are telling all of them to concentrate in the same place and make the targeted tracking even easier for malicious actors.
I don’t think anyone is telling groups “post to my instance and you’ll be safe from threads”. But when people want to do things like creating bridges from Threads to Lemmy they strip admins of the ability to block Threads content from Lemmy instances that defederated Threads for a reason.
These topics have far reaching implications that just “I want all the search!” and anyone that doesn’t want it is holding the fediverse back.

So like abortion, they play the “family” card, but it’s about controlling women and their bodies. The family is just a side effect of the “wife” performing her “marital duty”.
