  • This is what kills the ADFs and Israeli whining on antisemitism.

They’ll call any statement saying Palestinians aren’t disposable refuse antisemitic. Yet, when a guy they like does literal Nazi salutes while quote tweeting shit from the protocols of the elders of Zion “oh he’s just having fun”.

These are the most antisemitic organizations on the planet. They don’t care about protecting Jews, they care about protecting Israel and will gladly allow an antisemite propagandist in their ranks if it furthers that cause.

  • “Democracy is in danger, so I’m going to run a campaign which specifically and exclusively caters to the Nazis that put us in danger rather than spend an ounce of time appealing to the base”

“Democracy is in danger, so when my internal polls show I’m going to get creamed this election, I’m going to stay in and tell the world I’m sundowning”

“Democracy is in danger, so I’m going to spend the next year sending billions to a fascist nation committing genocide despite 70% of Americans opposition and 90% of my base hating that move”

Fuck Biden and the DNC for putting us in this position. When a fascist rose, y’all spent your time jacking each other off about the importance of legacy. Your legacy is ashes and a public that despises you.

  • So let’s be really fucking clear here on what Vivek and Musk want. It isn’t more immigration. They want disposable tech workers that they can ship back to their countries of origin when they misbehave. They want the power dynamic they have over H1Bs that they don’t have over US citizens.

What Musk and Vivek can’t find isn’t “motivated” americans. They can’t find cheap american tech workers who have to take abuse or else they get deported.

This is, BTW, why right wingers focus so heavily on border control but not employment enforcement. You could end 90% of undocumented workers today if you penalized businesses found employing them. And it’s real fucking easy to find those businesses. Go to just about any farm in the US.

The reason for boosting ICE funding is so a business owner can turn to their undocumented employees and say “If you don’t fall in line, I’ll call ICE and deport your ass”. This allows them to issue all sorts of abuse at their employees that they can’t get away with for US citizens.

This is why open borders or easy paths to citizenship is important.

  • Every single step that Luigi took, right before shooting the ceo, was legal. Everything the CEO and his company did to their customers is legal.

I’m all for changing the legal system in any way that would make it harder for unwell people to get guns or insurance CEOs to stop murdering and maming their subscribers through denials. We don’t have the political will to change any of that so excusing me for not shedding tears over this CEO’s death.

There was a literal mass shooting at a school the same day. I feel way worse for those kids.

Being against the death penalty and bemused at conservative political consequences is not hypocrisy. Maybe stop being angry at “the left” for not shedding tears and instead propose any change that would have prevented this.

  • Oh boy. He’s actually a president I hate almost as much as Reagan!

The Clinton legacy was the complete dismantle of the federal government and privatization of core government functions. He’s why we have private prisons and partial privatization of Medicare.

He was a conservative Democrats when those were still a thing. Gore was the political opposite of what Clinton stood for.

Clinton balanced the budget by ransacking social programs and aging a bunch of means testing to make qualifications what they are today. He’s why public housing disappeared.

The only thing Clinton did that I like is cutting back on defense spending. He was otherwise a terrible president that unified conservative ideals of both the conservative Dems and Republicans at the time.

The only reason he didn’t do more damage is the response of the Republicans at the time ended up being newt gingrich who drove the party further to the right and made it a party motto to obstruct everything that a Democrat wants to do.

Clinton move the Democrats right which caused Republicans to run farther right. The conservative Democrats that came in with Clinton still linger today with all the shitty notions of what government should look like. That’s why Kamala ran the dumbass campaign that she did. DC is infected with the notion that Democrats need to be Republican lite. All this comes from DC morons wanting desperately to recreate the Clinton presidency.

  • The amount of power AI and Crypto require is orders of magnitude the amount of power required by pretty much any regular application. The company I work at uses somewhere around 2000 CPU cores worth of compute at AWS (and we have ~100 microservices. We are a fairly complex org that way).

Generally speaking, an 80CPU core system takes up ~200W worth of power. That means my companies entire fleet operating eats about 5kW of power when running full bore (it isn’t doing that all the time). My company is not a small company.

Compare that to what a single nvidia A100 eats up. Those GPUs take up to 400W of power. When doing AI/crypto stuff you are running them as hard as possible (meaning you are eating the full 400W). That means just 12 AI or crypto apps will eat all the same amount of power that my company with 100 different applications eats while running full bore. Now imagine that with the model training of someone like chatgpt which can eat pretty much as many GPUs as you can throw at it.

To put all of this in perspective. 5kW is roughly what a minisplit system will consume.

Frankly, I’m way more concerned about my companies travel budget in terms of CO2 emissions than I am our datacenter usage.

Yup. The baker isn’t the one that owns the bakery. They don’t own the mills. They don’t own the farms.

Instead, what’s happened is one mega corporation has bought most of the bakeries, they set prices to the maximum level possible and have backroom negotiations with mills that an independent baker can’t get in the room to make. The mills do the same thing with the farms. And the farms are all consolidating into few owners who get to run on almost no employees (It doesn’t take a lot to run a modern farm). Further, the mega farms and mills end up driving small time farmers out of business because the mills won’t cut deals with small time farmers like they will with the megafarmers.

At every layer, there is some MBA asshole idiot justifying his parasitic existence because he thinks nobody else is as smart as him (even though he likely got the business because of his daddy or his wife’s daddy). He hordes the excess funds but builds himself a nice big house.
