They’re all 8 year olds
He even admits it, explicitly
Donald Trump tells biographer he’s the same now as he was in first grade
Interesting. Is it normal, for dissenting opinions to be made explicit on an unsigned order like this?
If not, for me it’s immediately a red flag. Why is it so important for these two to publicize that they dissented on an otherwise unsigned order? Is there another RV shipment coming soon? I guess we’ll find out soon enough because the order says Alito will publish a written dissent later…
Trump was never a master negotiator, he always was a bully. He gets what he wants through intimidation. His prior diplomatic victories were gained partly based on the work of career diplomats who paved agreements that not even he could fuck up. But all the competent people have been DOGEd away, so now it’s just Trump and Elon and a bunch of sycophants who think diplomacy is throwing tantrums when the other side says “no”.
It’s interesting that the one judge who was going to conduct his own contempt hearings also claimed the right to appoint a prosecutor if the Justice Department chooses not to. That process is on hold while the appeals court considers it. (Which is not surprising, it’s quite a big step and deserves some review). But if the appeals court allows it to go forward with an Independant prosecutor, then we might be getting somewhere.
No they weren’t. These emergency decisions are unsigned, so normally we don’t really know who advocated for what, all we know is that a majority of the Court was in favor. Since the press is now reporting that Alito and Thomas dissented, though, they must have made some separate statement to that effect later.
But we don’t really know whether there are 7 justices in favor, we just know there are at least 5.
That judge who is looking for people to hold in contempt should start with whoever authorized this post.
I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!
Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time!
More liberals should have kids. If the only people who are having kids are conservatives, we shouldn’t be surprised when the next generation turns out more conservative than we expect.
I wouldn’t try to actively talk people into having kids, though, because that’s weird and creepy, and none of my damn business.
In some places, there is still a social expectation that your mode of dress should be an indication of how seriously you take whatever is going on. People used to get dressed up in suits just to simply go outside. Nobody expects that anymore but some might still expect students to look somewhat put together in a college setting.
Now, I don’t think the professor should have mentioned anything (particularly about your hairy pits, lol). But, they may have been doing you a favor, because they expressed to you directly that they find it objectionable. While that shouldnt have an effect on your grade, professors are only human and this one signaled that they don’t think you take their class seriously based on your mode of dress. How many others think the same way, and are just not telling you?
It won’t benefit the US at all, but Trump thinks it will make his crypto worth more dollars
You do know what happens when someone with too much melanin pulls a gun on law enforcement, right? They ask questions later, you know what they do first.
Although if the alternative is to be shipped to CECOT, I wouldn’t blame someone who wanted to force the issue sooner rather than later.
Did any of the “reporters” there challenge them on this essential point?
I hope not. But if he was, there’s really no reason for El Salvador to keep him, is there?
I did say “might”…
"Who knew the global economy could be so complicated? "
Two reasons. First, they’re not wrong: now that the man is in foreign custody, the US can do nothing more than ask for his release. The Administration cannot compel his release. They could ask forcefully, but El Salvador can still decline.
But second, the administration did this on purpose, because it can. They set up this foreign prison precisely so that people they sent there can never be forced to come back by any US court, in direct opposition to the US Constitution. And they are doing this publically, so everyone knows that people can be “disappeared” by this government. Any foreign national is at risk of being "administrative error"ed into non-existence. And let’s face it, that means any human in the US can be, because anyone who can’t prove their citizenship status on the spot will be presumed to be a non-citizen, and even people with documentation on their person can have it confiscated and “lost”. It is straight-up intimidation of people who the President doesn’t like.
Well, a third reason, too: if this guy ever comes back and tells his story to the press, that might be the thing that snaps all the MAGAs out of their trance. So it is not in the Administration’s interest to ever have him come back.
They can always just keep paying and not use it, or let some of their American friends use it. But they are not impossible to get out of. There is an entire industry revolving around transferring timeshares. Like any other contract, it is more costly to get out of early, but it can be done if you are motivated enough.
Yup, I’m right there with you. There is a saying, “Never let the perfect be the enemy of the good”, which applies here. Everyone who was able to vote but withheld it because she wasn’t the perfect candidate will be judged the same in the history books as enablers of genocide and fascism.
I have a bit more grace for those who voted third party, but only a bit. It’s not their fault that the system is so fucked up that third parties don’t stand a chance. But every third-party vote was still, effectively, half a vote for genocide and fascism.
When both sides are bad, the lesser of two evils may be the best choice.
But if you know how much filament you have, it takes all the fun out of playing Filament Chicken…
