This is why I use Start11

Man, am I happy that I stopped using my Roku and switched to an Nvidia Shield TV. I’m also happy that I have a “dumb TV”!

I tried the Official Windows 11 start menu. I had disabled showing “recommended apps” in the settings. This hid the icons, but not the section. So, whenever I opened the start menu, the entire bottom half was a section that said “enable recommended apps to show them here.”

That’s when I installed Start11 (I also bought StartAllBack, but I preferred Start11) and never looked back.

They were bought out

People still use AdBlock Plus? I thought that was long since dead. You know, since they sold out and let companies pay them to show ads.

You’re assuming they care about the content of the ads. If they’re getting paid, they run the ad, that’s it.

This doesn’t work for most streaming services. The ads and the actual video come from the same server. I know this is the case on Hulu (probably YouTube, too).

Isn’t every email address disposable?

Obviously, ProtonMail shouldn’t be on here, but is this a list anyone even uses?

I honestly forgot Threads even existed.

A switch?

I just upgraded to a WiFi 6E router. Both my phone and my laptop support 6E.

Speeds are great, until you leave the living room (where the router is). Go up to my bedroom, and 6E won’t even connect. So it’s fast, but 6Hz has trouble going through walls.

Most of the other devices in the house are on 5GHz and that’s still super fast and able to reach basically everywhere.

That seems right up my alley, I’ll subscribe to that.

My town (actually a city) has its own Holocaust museum. I remember going there when I was in school.

Growing up Jewish (I’m agnostic now), this was a pretty impactful and serious day when we went there.

I know I’ve seen and spoken to survivors too, they have some powerful stories.
