Mind the shavings
It’s not benign. Long covid can be and often is permanent. You get that shit, and everything you care about in your life is now a distant second place.
What you’re calling “benign” is everybody consciously choosing to ignore it, and act like anyone smart enough not to is somehow weird and wrong.
Some lost their ability to regulate from everybody else being critically stupid, some see everybody still being dumb about it and aren’t gonna play such a transparently stupid game. Some got long covid, the worst outcome of all, the thing you wear a mask to stop.
Multiple causes.
Yeah in the old world where a little elbow grease was all you needed to afford a house, this would have been a coward’s move and creepy as hell.
Now, it beats the pants off of most jobs. Which is all the evidence you need of how much of a failure society has become. This situation should be awful, but it’s pretty nifty by comparison.
Well, wages are shit and prices are unjustifiably high. So yeah, you fall to the safety net or the ground.
No, we don’t know. It makes less sense than it ever did seeing it play out in real time.
And it’s still, for the moment, a screw-up. Something that slipped through the cracks. Deregulation means not even trying to stop it anymore, so it’ll be normal. Or, one layer of protection will be gone.
Stomach pain can be easily some of the worst pain.
Yeah if a bug or a hardware failure can make me see nightmare spiders everywhere or send a signal to my pain centers, that’s a permanent no.
It probably helps in one way and harms in another to say: it feels that way because it is that way.
It’s at least nice to know you’re onto something. You’re seeing what’s there. Your head is screwed on straight! Yay!
The situation still sucks, but a partial victory is a partial victory.
Somebody definitely needs to make a frontend that makes it smooth.
Bad idea. Bluesky’s just gonna end up like Twitter.
The Fediverse could get shitty in new ways too, but it can’t get Elon’d. Bluesky eventually will. The future is on the Fediverse. All we’re doing is delaying that future by swapping one corporation for another.
Though maybe that future needs to be delayed, because the Fediverse needs to lose its “yeah our app can do that thing you want, just edit a few variables in the source code”-style github energy.
Mastodon is ultimately usable, because I figured it out, but it should have been easier, and needs to get easier. Maybe it has the rise and fall of bluesky to figure that out.
Formerly known as? It’s still twitter.
Quit saying objectively stupid shit that will get people killed. Jesus Christ.
This isn’t an opinion, it’s a hazard.
“I think that allowing my child to go play in traffic really isn’t that bad”. Look if your stupid ass commits suicide by raw milk, fine, but there are people who don’t know all the facts who might listen to you, and you might be directly responsible for getting the idea into their heads that, when acted upon, kills them. That’s close enough to murder by any sensible ethical standard.
Quit it.
The People’s CDC, much like the factory, must grow.
Those things aren’t emotional states.
That’s what enshittification is. Make something good, draw people in, they make your service a part of their lives, and then you fuck them in the ass.
The best situation is giving money to a company that’s not shitty. The second best situation is piracy. The third best situation is letting yourself get fucked over. It’s really up to the companies whether or not we have the best situation. It’s up to all of us to have the basic dignity to not get screwed over by the worst option, and to choose the second one when they try.
He gets two terms, whether they’re split up or not. This is his last term by law.
He’s probably just going to stay anyway, because Republicans have managed to infect government with the kinds of losers who would back something like that.
Even if you’d get a vengeance kick out of it, the suffering won’t produce the good results you want.
