Well Trump has no imagination so that’s simple for him, not sure I’d say that about all conservatives, just the simple ones. The ones that have an imagination are possibly more dangerous but least none of them are running for president…this time.

That said can you imagine how stunted someone would have to be not to have an imagination? If so you’re probably better off mentally than half the presidential candidates.

I figured he didn’t have to do it if he didn’t want to and he acted like he was having fun, which made me enjoy those scenes so much more. ‘You know what? I like Star Wars’…mean unsure if he did but he said with such a grin and awesome delivery. Plus ding dong ditch on Carrie was the cherry on top.

With the amount of them these days does it make a difference? I get the idea for sure, and when there were less of them it was easier and made some sense, but these days you may as well be plugging the hoover dam with bubble gum. Even if all the mainstream outlets didn’t say the name, someone will.

How many states are going full fascist these days? Texas is doing raids on people doing voter registrationa that appear to be targeted for minorities.

Eh I think Trump himself thinks he wants it, plus to be on TV with someone actually popular to try and show them up which he’s already convinced himself he can do. Overall it seems like a coin toss, he doesn’t have the best aides to hold him back these days and he can’t turn down a TV camera.

Tom Hanks in an 80s comedy (came out in 90 close enough) is usually worth it, I only watched it once a number of years ago. It wasn’t overly memorable but I recall enjoying it well enough. There was probably jokes I wasn’t paying attention enough to notice. However when you add Meg Ryan with Hanks you can’t really go wrong.

Also isn’t it pretty uncommon for someone to lose reelection for president but be the nominee the next one? Mean most know their official politics days are over at that point so the title isn’t confusing.

Not entire network of shows is entertainment there’s the 2 hours a day when they give their preferred hosts a break. I don’t really know the hours spent on actual news but I have the impression it’s in low single digit hours. I also assume they put more emphasis on right wing topics during those times, as factual as they may be rather than a balanced news source. If I’m wrong I’ll gladly be corrected since I don’t really watch broadcast TV anyways (corrected typo)

Not that this helps their case but they’re over 50 now. Well Jason Mewes only turned 50 in June so depending on filming maybe be forty something. I’m older, I still like Kevin Smith, I have simple tastes. I still watch Baseketball now and then. Though I don’t think a group of me would make much of a market heh. To each their own.

I started that like 10 years ago, unfortunately I have a funky shaped head so it doesn’t look as good as it may on others but I do enjoy the maintenance on it. I can definitely tell these days it won’t grow back like it used to (much thinner on the top, edging back on the top sides). However being able to use a hair trimmer once a week myself is cheap, and less things to do while getting ready in the morning.

I can understand since society seems to put value on hair but not worrying about it (some confidence) goes a long way. I barely think about it nowadays.

He does say he only checks via prescient, in the book’s time, to make sure they’re still on the golden path so he can get surprised. That is one of my favourite bits as well, he sort of gapped out for a moment. Then later we get introduced to him talking about wool gathering when Moneo’s mind wanders, that just made me ponder if that phrase was because he kept thinking about his surprise earlier in the story due to his own wool gathering. If I recall that phrase came up a few times in the series but I can’t remember if earlier or later books.

Also if you think about it, never being surprised and living thousands of years would be quite boring and humanizes him in a way that most people would not think of since he’s the worm.

Hope you’re enjoying it, it’s my favourite of the series but I enjoy the philosophy pondering in that book. I can see why it’s not for many readers though, and if Dune was hard to film I couldn’t imagine trying to do that book without voiceovers of Leeto for more runtime than most studios and viewers would like.

I noticed another comment that mentioned he had been working for a few departments over the years, so probably he just did too much finally. Mean don’t get me wrong I’m happy an officer is being charged for crimes committed but I’m guessing there’re reasons he has a longer work history and probably shouldn’t have been hired multiple times in the past. Again this was off a comment so maybe the information isn’t accurate but when it’s so easy to believe is a pretty bad situation of police officers in general.

Oddly that was a movie that came to mind but I hadn’t read any of the comics to know if it did it justice, just recall enjoying it as a teen.

This has made me wonder, did any 90s film capture the source material well? I say this as someone who went from teen to young adult those years. Mean you can usually tell a movie’s decade, but this one sort of captured the 90s action movies as an aesthetic to me. Or maybe cause Stallone was in his groove for a bit which was an earlier/mid 90s thing too. Never read the comics but did enjoy the Dredd movie much more, and can’t go wrong with Karl Urban that I’ve seen.

I’m sure some lesser known comics did better but definitely not Batman, sure there were others I didn’t watch or realize were comic related.

That’s the thing, they don’t care if people have a solid understanding of science if it gives them power / more true believers. It’s a completely backwards thinking that’ll set back science for years, decades or more if it really takes hold.

If the strongest military power on Earth is being controlled by religious fundamentalists (aka heritage foundation) it is quite scary. Sure it’ll take some time to widdle down the will of the people in charge (replace them) but given a bit of time it could easily happen and they don’t just want to change their country they think their opinion is right for the world.

I also agree, I love science, I’m older but I still strive to learn new things, get excited by new discoveries it’d be a shame if that stopped cause people gave up on it, or if education failed people wanting to learn it.

They’ll just give vouchers for Christian private schools, who will charge as much as they like but it’ll be an ‘approved’ school and drain more taxpayer money. Also sounds crazy when you realize the attendance in a public school. Basically funding Christian oriented schools.
