My dad died while I was in grad school (pancreatic cancer). He was the sole breadwinner for our household - it was a real wakeup call, but I also realize in hindsight that he probably negatively impacted my personal growth. I thought, while he was around, that supporting the family business would be a viable career path, but it was mismanaged and I disagreed with decisions he would make. Instead I have had a successful career in consulting and with large corporations. There was an interim period where I did manage the business, but ended up shuttering it/liquidating. It also resulted in my siblings getting full rides to compete their undergrad. I think in our case, experiencing the bottom fall out motivated us to not miss our shot.
I do miss him, but I can’t help but think it was for the better.
“over the” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 /s
This is funny, I asked my wife this morning “have you ever thought of tasting the cat’s canned wet food?”
We’ve never done a taste test, sad to say.
I didn’t finish everything I had set out to at work today, but the stuff I did finish was well received. I’m on track to go to bed on time, was able to exercise, and we cooked a pretty bomb masaman curry dish for dinner. There’s always tomorrow for work stuff - consider my goals for the day completed.
My brother works at a restaurant where the head chef mentioned that he has tried sea turtle soup. The chef said that it’s a good thing that sea turtle is illegal to consume because the soup and texture of the meat was so perfect that sea turtles would be guaranteed to go extinct otherwise.
Every day. My boys get 1/3 cup of dry food and a can of wet food. They’re both ~11 lbs, trim and healthy. Cats shouldn’t be on a pure dry food diet if possible.
Brandywine coffee roasters. They’re based in Delaware. I’ve been blown away by the quality of their subscription. Best beans I’ve purchased in the US.
I’m GOING to the Olympics this year. Totally stoked to travel to France. It is the only vacation my wife and I are taking this year.
And other major expansions for elden ring and FFXIV released recently. There’s potential overlap in the player base. 90% is a big dip though.
No, I have a subscription to Brandywine - they’re based out of Wilmington, Delaware.
It looks like what happened is that the roasters listed didn’t inform the FDA properly of their roasting processes, which led the FDA to assume that the coffee may be a vector that is conducive to botulism.
No cases were reported because of this, but the recall is out of an abundance of safety.
We just finished building a chicken coop and have 5 beautiful little chickens now! We’re probably gonna spend some time in our back yard cleaning up the coop, letting the chickens roam the yard, and gardening.
We got invited to a friend’s house for a pool party, so we will probably hit that up. Family is in town from out of state, so we will probably have to rendezvous with them at some point (not really looking forward to that).
I’m hoping to have some time to grind FFXIV before the new expansion comes out. I’m a few quests away from finishing Shadowbringer - I have less than 20 days until the release of Dawntrail and I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna be done with End walker by then, womp womp. Looking forward to the new classes and the graphics update.
OC as in stolen from Reddit. Pretty sad.
Hell yeah - this is great news.
Mad love for Qobuz.
I can snap the tendon over my knuckles kinda hard to where it makes a popping/snapping sound. If I do it close to someone’s cheek, it stings like releasing a tiny rubber band.
I can also move my ears independent of one another.
It looks like she stopped practicing last year in order to focus on her pro-life political stance. I personally know one physician (my partner worked with them previously) that works at this practice… And they’re not a right-wing nut. Ingrid on the other hand…

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters

I enjoyed it, it’s an artsy Japanese film directed by Paul Schrader who wrote Taxi Driver. Unique and engaging film that touches on gender roles and fighting for “valiant causes.”
I liked the cinematography and how they wove the chapters together.
