You’d have to be crazy not to be paranoid these days.

IME 40-60% per cycle, even when connecting to an empty, self-hosted relay. Quite literally a killer feature.

I have a Pi4 running a mastodon branch, the “dreaded capacity hog” synapse and much more. Never had any issues with capacity. I know people who set up Pi’s as CDN relief servers for PeerTube video transfers.

I suppose people have different experiences.

1. Not that I know of, but most likely. If you’re new to hosting, maybe look for automated tools that does the heavy lifting for you - Like how Lemmy can be installed by copying and pasting a single command.

2. Beyond power/internet, you can host for free. Subdomains can be free, I assume you have the hardware and pay for power and internet anyways.

If people need Greta Thunberg to oppose climate change or genocide, they might be ghouls without a human soul. But then again, there’s a lot of soulless ghouls in the world. 😔

Never heard anything like that, and tried to do a quick search on the web for negative/unprofessional reviews, third party flagging etc. and found nothing. My experience with Posteo so far is very positive, which includes the “professionality” of both their technical system and their customer support.

I think it’s clearly available on several other activity pub platforms, last time I checked one could see individuals voting when subscribing to Lemmy communities from Friendica.

It’s still against the spirit of Lemmy to post it publicly on here…

It’s doable in Firefox, you just need an extension that adds it and then enable custom tweaks through an obscure file before then removing the original tab strip by hacking the interface with CSS. 🤷‍♂️
