Believe it or not, NextCloud. It actually can work as an email client. And it can sync calendars, contacts and todo list too.

photopea.com is actually pretty great, much easier to use than gimp with similar (or even better) feature set.
Currently, activitypub identity is tied to domain name. Mastodon support migration as long as the old domain is still up during the migration process, but AFAIK Lemmy doesn’t even have a process to migrate an instance to a new domain yet.
Someone should tell Lemmy devs and send them a crate of coffee because it’ll be a race to implement domain migration before all .ml domains got shut down.
A while ago Libya suddenly requires all companies that use .ly domain to have a presence in Libya or have their domain reclaimed by the government. bit.ly (and other internet startups that use .ly domains back then) suddenly found themselves in a precarious position. It was pretty hilarious as .ly TLD was hip back then.
Does ssh works? If yes, you can use autossh
to create persistent ssh tunnel to your VPS.
Who need GUI apps when you can do these things on CLI:
imcat my-image.png
mpv --vo=tct "https://youtube.com/watch?v=BBJa32lCaaY"
browsh
spt play --name "Your Playlist" --playlist --random
and perhaps many more I’m not currently aware of…
Did you miss the fact that this TV has a camera that can count the number of viewers and can detect obstruction? Obstructing the ad screen broke the ToS and when they detect it, they can cancel your account and demand you too send the tv back or get charged $1000. Oh, and it’s also have a microphone in addition to the camera, which will double the fun.
I heard chromium is easier to work with than gecko.
Yes, using pihole would violate their ToS: https://www.freetelly.com/terms-of-service

I always want to self host my own search engine, but alas, I’m not a billionaire.
I was wondering when Red Hat enshittification would began the moment IBM announced the acquisition. Turns out it begins today.
That’s exactly what happen in my personal instance.
I see, looks like it’s a correct decision to me. Let the Lemmy developers worry about which version of pictrs to use themselves.
Nice! Looks like it even has update checker as well. Is there any reason why pictrs
is not included in the update checker and hardcoded to version 0.3.1?
Who cares if it already exists, just make it.
Also consider the possibility when the other, more popular projects got enshittified. Now the fleeing users have an option to switch to your project. It actually happened on one of my side project. I made it because I want to try building my own version of X. It got ~2000 users, but later down the road, X got sold to a new shitty owner that waste no time to enshittify it, and my side project suddenly grow to 20,000 users overnight.
