Check out Memos. It does most of what you want. There’s an app, MoeMemos as well. I’ve used Memos as my journal for a couple of years now. (There’s also a sync with Obsidian if you use that.)

I joined as soon as it was open. Very quickly it was full of junk TiKtok videos (many with the Tiktok logo). As others have said you have to keep scrolling through the same videos in the same order to see anything new.

The feature that’s missing is some sort of “filter creator” that would enable users to build their own algos.

(To be fair, I can’t see why Tiktok works as an app other than as some global-scale brainwashing tool.)

Just looked at the iOS app and it has an IAP of £119.00. Put me off completely.

I was about to say this. Strange how you seem to be the only one (so far) to suggest this sensible solution.

I updated to 7.2.2 this morning and it prompted me to update Plex and then gave a message about what to do if Plex couldn’t see my library. It seems to be ok.

Thanks for the info. These sort of things are always difficult. A bit like finding out a favourite musician breaks a boycott or has dodgy ideas but makes great music.

I wasn’t aware of the issues with the Lemmy devs. Some of the original posts about them don’t seem accessible. Is the issue because they are pretty pro-Chinese government?

It works fine. Not many videos there - but it’s early days. It doesn’t seem to be a desktop app. Works through the Loops app.

I do the same thing. I’ve tried Kavita and Audiobookshelf and ended up just keeping the books on a network share and then accessing them through Calibre. I am sideloading to a Kindle though.

It just stores them to the folder you choose as a vault for your notes. I have seen people put their vaults on a USB stick which they encrypt for security.

No web version of Obsidian as far as I know. Have you tried SimpleNote?

I use it to sync from a webdav on my NAS at home to work computer if I ever need it. It also syncs from services like OneDrive, Dropbox, S3 etc.

There are other versions of similar syncing.

2nd vote for Obsidian.

I’ve moved from OneNote and Evernote about two years ago to Obsidian. I tried out (and still do look at) all the note-keeping apps and Obsidian beats hands down. For me, the major determiner was that it saves to plain text files that I can just transfer into any future app easily. The other aspect is that plug-ins enable you to tailor how Obsidian functions to your own working processes.

I’ve found keeping Obsidian in sync over iCloud pretty good as long as you keep the number of plug-ins on phone and iPad limited.
