The only negative opinions I care about for gaming usually come from Stephanie Sterling, because she’s pretty much right every time.

If you do you’re usually rewarded with a discounted, patched up game with content it probably should have launched with. The exception I’ve been using for myself recently for AAA games is, is a the game a single player experience with no micro-transactions? If yes, I’ll buy it day one or close to it. I do want to show them that I’m willing to pay full price for these games if they aren’t predatory pieces of shit.

Now we get a digital license that can be revoked and six months to a year of patching for it to be in a stable state. Yay!
Just something to consider…

I know of some specific instances of like community managers or a single employee clapping back. Apparently they speak for every employee and the entire studio? Is that how this works?

terrrmus@beehaw.orgto Gaming@beehaw.org•Reviewers giving high scores to poorly optimised games really grinds my gearsEnglish3·5 months agoArkham Knight was the first I noticed it really bad on, no RT present. Since then it seems most Unreal titles suffer from it in some kind of way.
I remap a lot of my controls to try and be uniform across games as they can be.
Secret of Mana and its remake are both co-op once you unlock the second character.

The reason the Steam Deck was such a sell for me was that it is a full PC. That I can do what I want with. I don’t want “mobile” or console gaming, because they have turned them into predatory micro-transaction mess.

BG3, Veilguard, anything they accuse of DEI or whatever. In all of my scrolling I’ve never encountered a swastika or someone just straight up being a white supremacist. I’m sure it’s there somewhere, but it’s not rampant. I also see a lot of moderation in those discussions. Goobers getting banned all the time. So if it is, I do think it’s getting moderated to some extent. That probably also falls on the game dev I guess. Not sure who controls the discussion forums.
I’m sad Little Big Planet doesn’t get this love anymore. The first two games were fantastic platformers.
terrrmus@beehaw.orgto Gaming@beehaw.org•Which unplayed game in your library are you most looking forward to playing eventually?English3·9 months agoYou can mod the first three to get it close to par with the Legendary edition. The improvements they made in LE on all 3 make it worth playing, but if a user account is your limit I guess not. There are a ton of mods for LE now as well.

MicroSD cards are cheap enough and I boot to Windows once in a blue moon. Rather do that than adjust my partitions to give Windows a home on my device. It remains banished to the MicroSD. But yeah I could see how someone that uses Windows more frequently would want to go that route.
