Which ethical systems don’t consider sentience?! Big yikes.
Which ethical systems don’t consider sentience?! Big yikes.
Yeah, whoever made this was probably 20 and thinks that’s what a 33-year-old looks like.
Is “more ethical” really enough if you accept that plants can suffer
I don’t accept that, but even if I did, you should still act to minimize suffering as much as possible.
Do you really believe that killing a plant is the same as killing an animal?
You can still care about animal cruelty and be ethical, even if you have an allergy. Having a medical condition doesn’t give you a free pass to do whatever you want.
If you’re eating meat, then you’re contributing to the death of all of those plants that had to feed the animals you’re eating. Even if you grant plants sentience, veganism is still the more ethical option.
Also dairy.
It’s weird, it’s sick, and it has no place in this world.
Only if you think a naked body = sex, which is a weird assumption to make if you think about it.
It’s a website where you can buy music. I prefer having music in OGG or Opus format, and most of the time you can only get MP3. Bandcamp gives you the option to download your music in several formats, and one of them is OGG.
That’s starting to change, because I can find more file-sharers who are using FLAC as storage becomes cheaper. Then I can convert FLAC to Opus. However, Bandcamp also gives you the option to stream music from their app, and it’s nice to have access to so much music on my phone.
You can have faith that your friend won’t cheat you, because based upon their previous actions they have proven trustworthy. That is faith backed up by logic.
It isn’t just a copypasta. As KnowYourMeme points out, it comes from Richard Stallman. Wikipedia has a good article about it here.
The term GNU/Linux is promoted by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) and its founder Richard Stallman. Their reasoning is that the GNU project was the main contributor for not only many of the operating system components used in the subsequent development of modern “Linux” systems, but also the associated free software philosophy.
Certain people get angry if you do not refer to it as GNU/Linux.
I’ve never seen this happen. I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about these people, though.
It’s like veganism. I’ve never met a militant vegan, but I’ve heard tons of people complain about them.
I think it’s an effective strategy to avoid taking about real issues.
I admit I don’t know much about it, but I got the impression that it’s great when you need a very minimal Linux system, like for Docker containers.
It’s the same reason why people argue about how to pronounce GIF. People get used to doing things one way and they don’t want to change.
This is a joke. Most people are not remotely concerned about these things.
Are you saying that Alex Jones said something…that was untrue?
Read it again, slowly.
But you can downvote on Facebook. In fact, Facebook is worse because it has a range of emoticons you can use to show your disapproval and/or mockery. So, instead of merely making a number go down, you can actually post a laughing yellow face or a frowny yellow face.
Yes. I find them on Bandcamp.
Downvotes should only be used for comments that are off topic, factually incorrect, hateful or made in bad faith etc.
How you think that people should use downvotes and how they actually use downvotes are two separate things.
If you don’t like it, the solution is simple. You don’t argue until you’re blue in the face to get people to change. You remove downvotes.
Downvotes are a bad idea. We should have upvotes only.
“Yes, your honor, he did kill my wife and I did give him money. However, I gave him the money afterwards, and effects cannot occur before causes, so there’s no possible connection.”
